Fireblight is an infectious disease caused by bacteria and can seriously affect your apple and pear trees throughout Massachusetts. If your trees become infected, it is a serious problem and you’ll need to decide whether to treat or remove these trees. Most treatment involves pruning the trees to remove infected wood before the bacteria can spread to the roots. This wood must be removed from the area to minimize inoculum.
Bug Busters may also recommend treating affected areas with copper based fungicide/bactericide.
