Hemlock Wooly Adelgid

I was looking through Flickr today, and found this image of a Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. It’s not very clear, but you can get an idea of what the infestation would look like in a tree.

This is a Canadian Hemlock, but adelgids are also found on Carolina Hemlock. If untreated they can kill even a healthy tree. To protect your hemlocks from this prolific pest, there’s a number of things you can do: treat the tree with horticultural oil, apply systemic pesticides, or use a combination of both.

Our tree experts will be able to evaluate the best treatment for your precious trees. We’ll also advise you if things have progressed too far, how best to deal with the worst case scenario.
